| Sustainable Policy: |
In each destination we carefully select local partners to ensure best practice with respect to guide training and education, conservation and care for the environment, and cooperation and involvement of local communicaties to share economic benefits. Only in this way can sustainability and income sharing from tourism be promoted. |
| Ecological/Environmental
Impact: |
We only work with well-established and responsible local operators who actively apply effective environmental and ecological conservation policies. We have joined IGTOA, an organization formed to protect the Galapagos, and are looking at ways to increase our environmental commitment to the destinations we cover in South and Central America. |
| Social/Cultural
Impact: |
It is hard for tourism not to impact smaller communities where population size and income opportunities are limited. In these situations of greatest potential impact, we try to minimise the harmful effects and see that both visitors and the local community derive comparable and equitative benefits from tourism. |
| Economic
Impact: |
As outlined above, through our local partners we try to ensure that local communities share fairly in the income generated by tourism. This means involving local guides, drivers and services where possible. |
| Innovative
Best Practices: |
Our energy has so far focussed on creating a high service internet-based Latin America tour operation, with operations in Costa Rica. We channelled part of clients? income to a conservation program, but this proved of no interest to clients. We now seek better ways to harness client and supplier power in favour of the environmental and community development. |
