The random sample survey in different places across the country reveals that 95% rural migrants & unemployed men taking rickshaw as their bread earning on daily hire basis and they continue it throughout their life. They are denied the facilities of the Post Office or Bank. Many who seek credit to purchase a new rickshaw become victims of high interest rates. Thus Rickshaw Bank acts as an alternative credit delivery system.
