Choosing a Greenhouse Gas Offset Program

TravelGreen™ - Carbon Neutral Accommodations

TravelGreen is a program that affords your customers an opportunity to make contributions toward small amounts of clean renewable energy. This valuable service provides hoteliers with a turn-key solution for proactively addressing global climate change. Through TravelGreen, hotel guests have an opportunity to positively impact the environment during their stay and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions at no upfront cost to participating hoteliers.

Hotel guests can participate in the TravelGreen program at participating hotels by investing in a TravelGreen Mini-Green Tag for US$1.00, which is equal to offsetting 33.6 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, represents 24 kilowatt-hours of electricity supplied by new wind and solar power, and equates to 100 percent of the energy consumption related to one night's hotel stay. The US$1.00 Mini-Green Tag can be acquired at the hotel upon check-in or check-out. Hoteliers participating in TravelGreen do not incur any cost for participating in the program. STI provides each participating facility with TravelGreen Mini-Green Tags and related marketing materials. Hoteliers also have the option to become carbon neutral and offset the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their operations through the purchase of Mini-Green Tags at wholesale rates.
