Independently Certified and Verified Projects
Sustainable Travel International is regarded for its due diligence in selecting the “best in class” offset projects. All of the projects we offer are inspected, verified and or certified by independent third parties including Green-e, the Gold Standard, CDM accredited verifiers under Kyoto Protocol, the Voluntary Carbon Standard, Plan Vivo and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance.
Transparency
Since Sustainable Travel International is a registered non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. IRS Code, our financial records are available to the public. Following the end of our fiscal year, we have our carbon offset contribution records undergo a review by an independent certified public accountant, so you can be assured that we purchased exactly what was contributed by our customers.

Tax-deductable Contributions
When you make a contribution to Sustainable Travel International for the express purpose of purchasing carbon offsets, you are directing STI to buy the amount of carbon offsets that you desire on your behalf. They are then retired and taken out of the market.
No goods or services have been provided by STI to you in return for your offset donation. Although this means that you won't personally own the emissions offsets as your property, you will help to accomplish the desired environmental outcome - cleaner air and additional renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Most offset contributions made by U.S. residents are tax-deductable. However, we encourage you to consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of your contribution.
Protecting Your Investment
While the majority of your contribution is allocated to the project portfolios that Sustainable Travel International offers, the balance of covers our overhead or is reinvested into our mission driven activities. As a not-for-profit organization, there is no “profit” at the end of the year; it is all allocated toward our sustainability initiatives.
