Peter D. Krahenbuhl is President and co-founder of Sustainable Travel International (STI), where he co-developed the world’s first travel industry specific, non-profit global eco-certification program to help companies measure, manage, and verify triple bottom line impacts.
Krahenbuhl has implemented and advised regarding best practices solutions for small enterprises to Fortune 500 Companies, provided expert consultancy at UN Foundation and international development workshops, and has led program and business development, including international negotiations. Krahenbuhl helped develop several multi-industry firsts related to triple bottom line eco-certification, including assessing regional sustainable tourism standards and developing sector specific standards. His extensive experience includes climate impact reduction and carbon offset activities, destination stewardship and green marketing. Prior to STI, Krahenbuhl worked for and operated an eco-travel company, and simultaneously authored the Hunter Travel Guides Adventure Guide to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands (Hunter Publishing, 2003). His leadership experience also extends to ecotourism operations and community-based development.
Krahenbuhl received his Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University (IU), School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA), with a double concentration in Comparative International Affairs / Environmental Policy & Natural Resource Management. He received his double Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara. |
