Founded in 2002, Sustainable Travel International (STI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to providing education and outreach services that help travelers, travel providers and related organizations support environmental conservation and protect cultural heritage while promoting cross-cultural understanding and economic development.

STI's current priorities include:

	Provide educational resources to travelers and travel providers, and assist them in making positive contributions to environmental conservation and socio-cultural sustainability.
	Develop, adopt, and market sustainable tourism standards and practices through the Sustainable Tourism Eco-Certification Program™ (STEP)
	Support the use of carbon offsets, enabling travelers and travel providers to offset unavoidable greenhouse gas emssions related to travel, business and their personal lives.
	Facilitate donations of financial resources, time, talent and economic patronage to help travelers and travel providers protect and positively impact cultures and environments around the world.
